The Civil War

Introduction

Picture
The Civil War, the war had totaled in over 592,680 deaths combined from both the Union and the Confederacy due to those who were killed in action or mortally wounded or died of disease. This great number is more than all the other wars American has been through combined. But it was worth it; slaves got their freedom, the South rejoined with the North, and peace once again reigned throughout the nation.
But was it really? The price payed was extremely high in order to free just 1/8 of the Southern population, just to have racism again enter our country in the mid-20th century. Brothers fought against brothers, killing each other. Some men died without even stepping on the battlefield due to disease. Lack of food, supplies, and clothing, especially in the South, caused many to starve or suffer frostbite. 4 years, 5 Aprils had to be gone through for the freedom of blacks. Many heroes were born, and many were killed. The once unknown General Grant became famous throughout the war, popular enough to gain the presidency years later. Abraham Lincoln was murdered, for the man who killed him believed that by killing the high-ranked Union leaders may possibly bring back the Confederacy.
What really happened? Why was it caused? Who were involved? What was the ending result, and how was it reached?
